Rubicon Ready Suspension Lift

i'd go full float. c clips suck. last time i broke a c clip shaft i thought people were cheering me on. went to reverse and looked out the drivers door and the wheel was about 2ft outside the fender:icon_rofl:

ha ha I literally laughed out loud when I read that.. ha ha. Maybe that's what i'll do..

And I know I for sure don't want to be "that guy" like you said especially not being able to limp out of the way.. AND I know people are already gonna be butt hurt that I am even trying it in 2wd..

yea if u arent doing good u will catch hell, if u are making it pretty decently u might even wow some people. take a buddy, dont rely on the passerby to give u a tug, that will make things worse. and people dont wanna have to wait on the 2wd to pull cable everytime they turn around. i'd take my stock spindles as well just in case, cant remember if u have a spindle lift or not but they arent that strong. id bring extra tre's too, esp the inner, they are pretty weak

Ha I know.. That would be exactly what happened.. I am HOPING my cousin will keep his toyota long enough to do it with me.. And yeah I was thinking of bringing some spindles, but I would probably have to bring a spare set of lift spindles.. Maybe i'll steal them off my brother's ranger with bearings and all already installed...

My son and I rode it on our Trials bikes a few years ago (ridiculously faster and waaay fun) I can't imagine it in 2WD but, if you have support so you don't ruin everyone else's day, go for it!

Gary LaPlante's buddy.

El Trial de Espana's coming up soon!

Haven't been riding Trials the last few years, helping train some desert guys and helping out Cameron Steele with the Trophy Truck.
Kind of got squished by my daughter's Ranger; 12 broken ribs, punctured lung, 9 fractured vertibrae and a AC seperation.
Slowed me down some.

ha yeah sounds like not such a great time.. Anyway, my cousin Mike and I (Matt) set up the Donner National last year...

Ok.. So Just curious what people's views are on electric fans (cooling). Should I keep my standard fan or put one or more electric fans in. I am thinking electric fans will be the way to go, but just curious. Remember it is my DD. So I would prefer if what I did could function as a crawler AND still work well as my DD...

A lot of people do that mod with the 4 cyl trucks. I'd say do it. Just make sure you wire it up properly.

Mini-Spool

Random side note---In case anyone cares, I put a HID-kit in a couple weeks ago. I got a kit for $35 +shipping. HID low-Halogen highs. Basically it was worth every penny. I got the 3k bulbs. They look green, but oh well. The low beams are 5x as bright as my old headlights and probably 3x as bright as the halogen high-beams. Brightest headlights I have ever had, and I used to run some 5k 130 watters a few years ago and these BLOW THOSE AWAY. These HID's are 35 watt by the way..

Ok... So I just took my next step.. I put a mini-spool in my diff.. Did it the other night for a few hours. (I could do it now in an hour but first time is always horrible) I messed around in my front yard and it is a noticeable difference. I am pretty excited. And not that horrible of a driver. (being used to the super swampers that is)

And I know I am gonna catch hell for putting a mini-spool in, but I did it for the price and ease of install. My outlook is, my truck puts out if i'm lucky, MAYBE 95 hp and off road I would never see more than probably 50.

So I figure putting a mini spool in, probably just a strong as the spider gears or stronger, I will be alright.. And a mini-spool for anyone that doesn't know is a "full-time" locker that replaces only the spider gears. I got it on ebay for $75 delivered. So now I am basically looking to change my tranny and put the t-case(s) in and get a decent winch, and electric fans, and I will be ready to go I think..

In case anyone cares, I finally put up (on youtube) a couple of light off-roading videos of me in my Ranger from thanksgiving 2010. Here is the link if you are interested in seeing them. And again they are not supposed to be intense or anything. Just killing a couple hours before thanksgiving with my brother in his 2wd ranger as well...
