I am rebuilding a 4.0 for my 2000 Ranger and the local parts store wants $1150 for a rebuild kit including rocker , pushrods , pistons , rings , and the full gasket , etc. . A kid in my class told me about this website RPMmachine.com , i am kind of wary of it , since their kit is half the cost of the one from the parts store but does not include rockers or pushrods. Has anyone heard of this site before , or am i better off going with the local place ?

well i work at a parts store (autopart international) and i can tell you that sometimes youre better off payin a little more and dealing with someone you know. cuz if theres a problem its easier to adress it. if you get it off some site no ones ever heard of, you might have a hell of a time with any issues. i learned people buy parts from people(in most cases)

Never heard of them. Go with Jegs.com

It seems to me they sell name brand stuff. What brand are the parts in the rebuild kit?

this is directly off their website

RPM built kits are our first choice in Engine Kits
These kits are put together with the best brand name parts available!
Most kits will come with Felpro gaskets,Clevite 77 bearings, Cloyes timing components, Melling oil pumps and accessories, Perfect Circle or Sealed Power Rings, Johnson lifters, Durabond Cam Bearings, Sterling or Silvolite Pistons and Pioneer freeze plug and galley plug kits.
Master kits: include Pistons, Rings, Gaskets, Cam Bearings, Rod Bearings, Main Bearings, Oil Pump, Freeze Plugs, Camshaft, Lifters,Timing Set And Wrist pin Bushings where applicable.

I buy all of my engine rebuild kits from RPM Machine. I have ordered 3 kits from them now and the longest it has taken to get any of them was 4 days. I actually got one for my Toyota the next morning. I checked them out on the better business bureau before i ordered parts and they showed no problems at all. If you talk to Tieson he can really help you put together custom stuff as well. he does a ton of 4x4 stuff from talking to him and he helped me figure out the problems I was having with the rocker arm noises in my engine.
hope this helps everyone else.

just seems strange a new members first post is about this company

Whats the cost of the push rods and rockers?

Also, I would go into the Parts store and be like look, I can get all this from this website for this price. Cut me a deal. Most of the time, they can cut at least 15% off the price, just by entering a dummy account code or finding a lower list price in the computer.

You could've at least tried to hide the blatant plug for RPM Machine. :ban:
