Article from the Australian press that contains some interesting speculations about the Ranger. My takeaways are that the ROW (Rest Of World) will be getting an updated Ranger before North America gets our version in 2019 and the ROW will then get the next generation in 2020. I guess that means we will be getting the next generation before the ROW.
One of the changes they see for the US market is the possibility that our truck will have a coil spring rear suspension with disc brakes and a Watts link which is exactly what the current Everest SUV has. My hope is that suspension will be used on a special off-road version (think mini-Raptor) and the standard versions will still get rear leaf springs. I want a Ranger with decent towing capability and coil springs would seem to be a disadvantage compared to leaf springs.
I also find it amusing that just because this particular test mule has a vinyl bra that is shaped like a 2017 F-150 grille they assume their truck is getting a "grille inspired by the F-150". What I see through that bra looks an awful lot like the current Everest grille that has also shown up on all the less disguised Ranger mules.
