Ok here it goes i let a buddy borrow my truck over the weekend(big mistake) Im pretty sure he put e85 gas in it. It is burning alot of fuel now and running like shit. I have replaced injectors, fuel filter, coil pack, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter and a few other sensors and now running 93 octane fuel with lucas fuel system cleaner anybody have any other ideas what could be causing the rough idle which sounds like a dragster and the over burning of fuel? Its a 91 ranger stx with 4.0, 5-speed.

Thanks!

What makes you suspect E85?

Stop throwing parts at..........Do the tuneup and maintenance items but throwing $300 at a minimum for an OK set of injectors is crazy.......along with your coilpack and other misc sensors..........DX first........did you check for codes?

is the e85 in the tank still or did you use it up?.........you get less mpg's with E85?.........it will clear the system out though!
* I reread your 1st post.you are running 93 now.........I would run regular gas. finish the tunup items, clean Tb, IACV, pvc, vacuum lines etc, and see if you can get a code........

No codes are being thrown he told me he paid 2.25 for the gas and all the prices are above 3 a gallon i found out it was the MAF sensor cover with shit from the motor running bad and backfiring and now that i cleaned the MAF there is a ticking noise and the oil pressure bounces from normal to low someone said it could be my oil pump going out. got any other ideas?

if I had to guess I would say your turck must have been in need of some maintenance. I doubt 5 gallosn of e85 turned your truck into a POS overnight. it might have sent some carbon etc. flying. e85 is a great detergent.......I would finish all the maintenance and see what happens. The ticking noise is probably your new injectors tapping away as they should.......the old ones were probably filthy. your gas tank might have been filthy. I would keep running regular gas in it and clean everything up........I bet it will be fine. I am not sure what is going on with the oil pump. you might want to change the oil

the MAF sensor gets dirty from the air filter and intake being dirty. I bet your air filter is filthy. take the intake off and clean it up and change the air filter......try and catch pending codes if you can. does your CEL light come on KOEO. how do you know you have no codes do you have a code reader?

He ran 15 gallons of e85 threw it and i have no check engine lights on im going to the junk to get a new MAF sensor and ill try to see if i can catch any of the codes an i did clean the airbox and put a new filter on. Im going to buy a code reader do you recommend one that can read OBDI/OBDII?

i run regular unleaded with ethanol blend. runs great, little bit of a rough idle when in park though, nbd

my god... i dont know if i want to ask, but how much did you put into new parts?

E85 isnt your problem, its a loose nut behind the steering wheel. tighten that up and your problem will dissapear.

btw, you have a 91. there is no OBDII on your truck. you find out engine codes by watching the flashing check engine light and counting the flashes.

OK now i have fixed mostly everything after i replaced the injectors (it needed them) now i have a ticking noise (think an injector from summit was bad...) the ticking is constant and increases with speed and rpm. And now i also have a knocking noise from the motor the noise comes and goes but i really hear it when i idle and after my truck got warmed up to normal temp it loses oil pressure only when i idle and the oil pressure comes back as soon as i start driving again... Anyone have any ideas what could be casuing this problem? Thanks
