i have a 94 2.3 fireing problem fixed now when u first crank it it idles and runs rough and if u drive it it falls on its face in each gear till it warms up then its alot better i have been researching and im thinking maybe (mass airflow senser) or (idle air controle) not sure but if anyone can think of something let me know thanks

sounds like a good idea to clean the maf and the iacv. the unhook the battery for 10 minutes so the truck will reboot. check for codes too

* clean the throttle body also and the butterfly valve

unplugging the MAF apparently wont do crap to these trucks from what I can tell. I bought my 96 2.3 ranger from my dad after he put in a new engine.

I ran around for 8 months and barely could get up to 65mph in the stupid thing on the highway and the idle would hang high. finally got fed up and started looking around.

they never hooked the MAF back up after putting the damn engine in. Plugged it in and all was well.

the whole time I was driving it with the MAF unplugged, it never threw a single code. I have absolutely no idea why either as it was technically running in limp mode if it couldnt meter the air but whatever.

oh also, have you checked the timing?? as in pulled the timing cover off and actually checked the belt alignment?? the tensioner could have slipped and you might be a tooth off...

I'd pull the timing cover off and line up the pulleys and make sure they are all aligned and also while the cover is off, pop the distributor cap as well and make sure its lined up properly on a plug as well..

I am not sure what this means but I disconnected my maf the other day and drove a 1/2 mile before it died. I plugged it back in and it went back to normal. it has never stalled on me in 2 years other than when i just did this.

thanks for the info guys i will try cleaning some sensers this weekend and let yall know if it works
