Hi have a 1996 2.3 lL that has a kinda rough/ low idle. It improves a bit as it warms up but will surge a bit. If it add a little gas is seems to improve. I suspected a lean condition and checked the fuel pressure I get 40 psi key on and 30 at idle. I get about 37 if I pull the vacuum line to the pressure regulator. According to Haynes this is all within tolerance but just barely.

I replaced the fuel pump when I did the filler neck about a month ago so I doubt it’s that. I’ve replaced fuel filter about a year ago. Also new plugs/ wires last week

any input would be great
Thanks

Sounds like your issue isnt fuel related.

Its probably a sensor (maybe TPS) or the IAC valve.

Is it throwing any codes?

Ive already checked the iac. At least I think so. I bench tested it. The solenoid definitely does actuate and moves a few mil meters. I was getting 12v key on at the connection.

I'll test tps

No check engine light
