I have a 1994 ranger 2.3L with ~140kmi on it (automatic, no A/C).
For the last couple of months I've had a rough idle when my engine warms up. However, off idle it runs very smooth and has as much power that could be expected from this 100hp engine. Since that time I first replaced the spark plugs (with auto lite platinum) which smoothed out the idle for a week and then returned. Next I replaced the plug wires, didn't smooth out the idle but started noticing a 1-2 mpg improvement.
3 days ago I changed my oil. Started it up for 2minutes and ran same as before.
2 days ago I had my garage open and with the high humidity and the cold temperature that my garage consistently keeps being built into a hill I noticed alot of water that condensed inside the engine compartment (and everywhere else in the garage). The morning after I went to start up my truck to go to work and began to miss consistantly at idle and any speed.
I figured the miss was a result of the condensed water and 15yr old wires. So I moved the dehumidifier out in the garage and ran it overnight. This morning I started the truck up and it did run slightly better however, still had a small consistent miss at idle and any speed.
Troubleshooting done to date:
Pulled codes from engine using the EEC test connector and the check engine light only while the engine was off. The only code flashed was a 133 (which I can not find in the Hanse manual). I have not run the other tests mentioned in the manual.
I also hooked up a vaccuum gauge the day with the miss was the worst. It ran at 17psi and when the engine was "goosed" it went to 0psi and when pedal let off it dropped to 22psi and quickly returned to 17psi. (Seems normal).
I'd like to fix both the miss and the rough idle issues. From what I've read it looks like I should be trouble shooting the electrical. However, I don't know where to start.
Looking for any help or suggests on how to find the issue.
Thanks.
