Does anybody know where to buy an after market rear shackle and spring perch? Mine has rotted away and now my leaf spring is jammed in the bed.

That would be a shackle and hanger..the perch is the part welded to the axle that the leaf springs sit on.

You can get them from the dealer.

cheapest for hanger is $14 from rockauto....as far as shackles, I had a new set from a dodge ramcharger I use on my ranger, but I would guess fullsize chevy trucks to be the cheapest. They're all pretty much the same size wise, but my dodge ones are just a smidge shorter, but f-150 shackles are the exact same for a ranger.

Thanks for the replys. How hard is it going to be to get the old ones off. Just trying to get a feel for what I'm up against.

it aint fun, its alot easier with the bed off...

you have to have to take a grinder or a torch to the rivits to get the old hanger off...

i would check the dealership...they were pretty cheep when i got mine

yes its crazy, bushing out a eyes leafspring ,buy new one and heat the piece off shit of remove them
a drill bite 1 / 2 inch and a grinder to remove

I was able to get mine at the local Advanced Auto Parts... I couldn't believe they stocked them, but they did.

Got the first side done tonight. A little trial and error, I first bolted the shackle to the frame and then tried to bolt the leaf spring to the hanger. There was no way the leaf spring was going to line up, the spring was to twisted. So took off the shackle and first did the leaf spring and then bolted the shackle back onto the frame. My only problem is I can't tighten the bolt all the way that holds the hanger to the shackle, I can't get a wrench on the back side of the bolt because it's up against the frame and the bed is in the way. Any suggestions? When I do the other side I'm going to do this first so I don't have the same problem.

I took the bed off and it made it a lot easier all around. I probably spent about a half hour total changing both sides after I got the bed off. There is plenty of room to get your wrench in from the top then.

I made a wrench to fit there out of an old 13/16" wrench, you need to bend it into a 90* to fit it in there.

When I did mine I put a lock nut on the back side, snugged everything up by hand, and then zipped it with the impact gun... this is a great trick for anyone that has access to a impact gun, and it also works with a good impact ratchet.

Thanks for the replys. I'll probably end up using a wrench and cut/bend it to get behind there. I'll be doing the other side this weekend hopefully it goes good with no issues. Does anybody know where to get a good cheap set of add a leafs and are they hard to install?
