I desperately needed my rotors turned because of warping ( steering wheel shake ) but once I had it done my brakes pads are noisy as hell it seems like they are just slopping around and make quite a bit of noise at low speeds and EVERY bump.

Is this a common problem, can shims be added to help hold them a bit more snug or am I stuck with this horrible annoying brake pad rattle until I get NEW rotors, which technically I don't need, has anybody here experienced this after having their rotors turned?:dunno:

i would put a straight edge on them....it shouldnt do that

Did you reuse your old pads? In the shop we usually put some brake grease on the back of the pads and the sliding tabs we never get complaints of rattles.

They properly greased everything as they should. The pads were almost new so yea they used the same pads after they turned the rotors.

It's got nothing to do with the rotors.

There are anti rattle clips that go on the caliper support brackets, did they put those back on?

Also check the slide pins to make sure they don't have a ton of slop in them and that they are properly lubed.

Any time you turn a rotor or replace it, the brake pads need to be replaced also. Doesn't matter if they were almost new.

An alternative to rattle clips is after assembling the caliper on the truck. Use high temp blue rtv on the parts where the pad backer plate sits on the knuckle. Works for me.

I guess I need a picture of what these anti rattle clips look like so I can go look on each side, if they are missing I will call the shop and explain that they must not have put them back on.

Do you have a picture??

I am not understanding this reasoning, where does it say YOU MUST buy new brakes if and when you turn your rotors. Does Ford say this?

Possibility that you turned your rotors the wrong way! :icon_rofl::icon_hornsup::D

Go back and complain. Shop needs to fix it for you. I too understand that you should replace shoes when turning rotors. Uneven surfaces equals not good stopping power as they wore to the uneven surface of your warped rotors.

Yep...I installed new pads...forgot the antirattle clips on the drivers side....sounds like ball bearings in a tin can....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

ME = STUPIeD !

+1 Essentially what this guy said.

I don't believe in replacing pads whenever rotors are turned.....I do believe in resurfacing or replacing rotors when replacing the pads however.

The anti rattle clips sit in the caliper support bracket and then the pads get installed into them. Everything being assembled with silicone brake grease.
