Hey guys,

Long story short was driving, heard a clunk and then loud fast clunking wheel speed related. So I get it back to my apartment and it feels like a hard hitting binding almost, which I'm sure has to to with the wheel going off center.

Important notes, when I wiggle the hub the axle shafts wiggle with them, as shown in the video. Up in the air the wheel spins when I roll the truck in gear while it's on stands, so I wouldn't think it's a broken shaft. I've been having braking issues involving the pedal occasionally going to the floor out of no where but when I took the wheel off the caliper was shifted outward a few inches and barely being able to compress the pads against the rotor. Whether that's a separate or related issue, I'm not sure.

My guesses were wheel bearings or something in the diff let go? Not totally familiar with how the D35's are set up. Not sure if there's some sort of an internal c clip to break or something. Just that the shafts wiggles with it makes me think something internal but I feel I'm overthinking it.

Thanks in advance guys. Really need to be back on the road asap as I'm working and living and hour and a half away from home and borrowing a vehicle for now.

Wheel bearings are cooked. Replace bearings and races.

Yup, toasty wheel bearings.

The shaft is moving because it carries all the way through out to that hub you are grabbing a hold of.

Awesome guys, thank you. Is there a kit online I could buy that has all the seals, bearings, etc. or should I just piece everything together at an auto store?

Anyone know if my braking issue would be related to this? The issue started a few days before then these took a crap at 55 mph. Took the wheel off and as mentioned the caliper was barely gripping the rotor. I feel it's because of the wobble and lack of stability in the hub but was wondering if that even makes sense haha.

EDIT: Trying to get together an idea of what all I need to buy. Inner and outer bearings with races and maybe a spindle bearing and seal kit? Just searching on rock auto right now. Thanks again guys, really appreciate it.

yeah...your brakes get pissed when the bearings are shot.

The brakes going to the floor can be caused by the rotor flopping around and pushing the caliper piston in. Then when you apply the brakes there is a large gap between the pad and rotor so there is no resistance in the pedal.

You will need inner and outer bearings with races and a 1 seal. I would do both sides at once so double that order.

You will have to pound the races in and out so if that's an issue just buy new rotors which will have races already installed. The bearings and seals are cheap so you can get them at an auto parts store.

Make sure you buy nothing but Timkin bearings thy will come with races. it will save you heartache in the future.

second the timken thing
TIMKEN Part # SET37 (wheel bearings) X4

TIMKEN Part # 4250 (wheel seals) X2

also i would do both sides

I'm assuming those quantities are for both sides?

Can't thank you guys enough, I really appreciate it. Going to be ordering them all up and getting to work in the street in front of my apartment...fun.

You might need a spindle for the side that cooked. When my bearing fried it fused itself to the spindle. Managed to get it off but the spindle was too badly scored to reuse. Easily found a decent replacement at a junkyard for $5. Replaced the spindle bearings on both sides at the same time (and just about everything else up front while I had it apart).

I'm definitely kind of afraid of that. New to the area so I'm not sure of where a junkyard is.

Again I appreciate the help guys. Unfortunately things have gotten put off as I've had to attend to family matters and have been looking at a powerstroke. Parts will be ordered tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone. I'll post the outcome but I'm pretty sure we all know the problem.
