im having trouble finding a roof rack to put on my bronco 2 does anyone know of a company that makes them?

luggage rack or roof basket rack?

Roof rack companies might be scared of rollover lawsuits. I don't know how much weight you plan to put up there, but in a BII I would want the center of gravity as low as possible.

Yakima makes towers that would fit it i bet. You would just need the towers, crossbars and rack itself and they have tons of options

Yamkima and Thule have them. You can get the set that attaches to the grap rails and then get the cross bars and if you want a roof basket thay have a few different types of them. You can get the roof racks on Ebay from a dealer I bought stuff from before. He name is Frank. He has them used in very good shape. I bought several things from him and I have had no complaints with them for my 99 Ranger. He has good prices with shipping as well. I will put up his link as soon as I get back to the house lateer today. I am taking my mom to a doctors appoinment and then I hav to check on my property.

Caution...big picture might load here. I bought the roof rack and cross bars from Frank on Ebay. The only things that are new are the Yakima Basketcase and the Yakima wind fairing. The Basketcase supports up to 150 lbs:

Here is another shot, much larger, but you can see the roof rack better in this photo. I really think the guy has some great prices on the roof racks.

Yakima for sure has the bars and mounts. Then you buy whatever basket you like.

I got Frank's ebay email address. Email him and see what he has for you.
He has some really nice used racks for good prices. I have bought several things from him and they are really nice and very clean for used racks.

This is Frank's email address:

I built a roof rack for my B2 for a camping trip I just went on. I carried all of the ice chests and heavy stuff indoors, but on the roof I had 3 sleeping bags, 2 tents, a folding camp table and 2 duffel bags. I will NEVER do it again! :icon_surprised:

Granted my rig has very soft suspension, but while flat towing it, big rigs and motorhomes passing caused it to rock and then whip...very scary and while driving it solo on paved roads with the load of under 150 lbs on the roof, it would really sway.

The last day, I put everything inside and packed her to the roof since it was gonna get muddy. Once back out on the highway, it drove normal again. I think the combo of the weight and the wind drag made it unstable. I will be building an offroad trailer for our next big trip.

My B2 was incredibly top heavy and unstable, it was sketch with out anything on top, I cant imagine what It would be like with weight on top

I had a lifted 89 BII with 33's and I had a roof rack on it and I never had issues on or off road with it. I had a wind fairing on it and that may have made I difference but it was really stable. My 99 Ranger is the same. I don't notice I have a roof rack on it when I go off road or on the highway. When I have a load on top I do notice a drop in gas milage a bit.

My rig is pretty tall and does have really soft suspension. Without the rack it is very stable on and offroad.

I am sure it has alot to do with lift height and spring type. That being said, at slow speed offroad, I didnt even notice it. But at highway speed it was really noticable.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in after the experience I had with one.

Post more photos of that rack you built. I do like the looks of the BII you have there!! Maybe it is the design of the rack (shape or elevation or placement on the roof).

I wouldn't worry too much about top heavy unless you over load it and drive like a idiot. People that run into problems are mostly inexperienced drivers, or women (sorry truth hurts).
