roof rack

Here is the only pic I really have of the roof rack. It is as low slung as possible and also designed it to protect the rear windows. Its made from .60 wall 3/4" tubing. The lowest bar is solid and braced with the crossbars to act as a tree slider. It is very light weight otherwise and never carried more that 150 lbs or so. Originally I was gonna throw my little yamaha generator up there too!

It does look cool!! I would move it forward a foot. My rack was mounted closer to the rear of the doors to distribute the weight more. Maybe that is the cause? Not sure but it could be. Better shocks?...lol

Moving it forward might help distribute the weight better. I guess it would be trial and error. But after that, I am pretty set on building an offroad trailer sporting 35's. I can carry alot more gear and dont have to get on the roof!

As for shocks... I doubt its my Fox shocks! :D

off road trailers are the way to go... maybe even a rooftop tent lol, i'm dreaming big!

I might not get it right away, but the rooftop tent to mount on the trailer is on the list!! :icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

I am thinking of something like this one...but with a hardtop to mount the tent on.

That's looks like my old trailer I had some time back!!!! I had KO 33's on it to match my Ranger's KO tires. It was just to shiny for some of my friends..but I liked it. I built a flip top out of diamond plate to match the outer trim. I gave it away one day to some folks that lived near us. They had lost their home to a fire and lost all their pets. But they still had each other and a trailer to put stuff in to get them back to California.

Go to the autoparts section of the Knoxville, TN craigslist. There is a company here making them damn cheap. I think 200 for a rack. FUlly welded.
