i have been thinkin lately about building a roof cargo rack with a light bar on the front? any one have and comments on the idea. pro's cons? aside from lifting my truck six inches the only problem i could think of is not having my truck fit in my shop any more, oh well?

i'm thinkin six 6 inch lights would be a simple clean look, i was also thinkin of building the housing for them on kinda a swivel and then wiring up 2 cylinders wired up to a switch in my truck so i could pivot them up and down with out climbing out there.??

Yes, I have thought about this as well. I have found some great deals in my area on brand new or very nice used twice roof baskets. Yakima and Thule and Colman makes. My 99 Ranger with the lift and 33x12.5's will not fit under the garage. I have a Yakima roof rack on it and that fits great. I have thought about finding a welder fabricator (not too many around here) to make a basket that will sit lower into my roof rack. I would like it level with the top of the rack and about 4 inches deep. This way I can put stuff in it still and get it in the garage without having to remove it to park it or mount it to leave the garage. How does this sound to you??? Also I want somebody to build me a light bar for the front of my Ranger. Something to go in between the upper valance area. I have a front receiver hitch there and I would like it to go on the outside of the receiver. I see these for the F-150 and up but not for the Rangers for some reason. Go figure......

do you have any pictures of you roof rack? i'm still debating between design options, i was thinkin of possibly welding up a head ache rack on my truck that will wrap around the top of the cab and integrade it into the roof rack. i'm not sure what ill do yet

Here, Bro. This I posted about a month ago:

I added one of my Yakima Pads to the rear bar since these photos were taken and I also got new endcaps for the bars and put them on last week. The original ones would not work well on the bars since a trimmed a couple of inches off them. I hate that look where the bars stick out so far.....
