RockRangerII refresh

Life has been busy and haven't had much time to work on this. Last weekend we took my wife's jeep out and did some wheeling. Ended up at Red Lake and my daughter caught her first fish.

Was double checking some things for my new rear driveshafts and she decided she wanted to help.

Got a little time to work on the bed. I had this 1/8" aluminum diamond plate left over from an old job so I am using it for the floors of the bed.

Looks good dude. Are you planning on running a fuel cell?

I noticed your from Fresno. I grew up in Shaver lake. Been wheelin up there most my life. I go up there on a regular.

No fuel cell. I have a Bronco II tank behind the rear axle. I like the area up by shaver. Let me know when you head down here to wheel again. Maybe we can meet up. I want to go to holister one of these days. Been over 10 years sense I have been there.

Hollister is the closest place to me. I like having a destination other then the end of a 1/2 mile trail. Thier new comp course is pretty rad though.

Haven't touched it in 2 months. I cut some aluminum plate for the bed floors and that is all I have done sense I updated this. we did take my wife's jeep over to Bodie for 4 days and had a good time.

And my daughter caught a fish. She even watched me clean it, fry it, and ate a few bites.

Finally got a chance to work on the truck for a few hours today. It has been over two months sense I have touched it. Cut and drilled all the pieces of aluminum that make up the floor of the bed. I need to get material for the rest. I am thinking 18 ga aluminum but am open for suggestions if something is better. Really would like to have a bead roller for the sides but it isn't in the budget right now.

I also pulled my tracbar trying to find my death wobble over 35 mph. Both heims were toast so I need to get some new ones.

I started out by making cardboard templates of the panels I needed for the bed.

Once I got all the pieces made in cardboard I laid them out on a sheet of 18ga Aluminum to try and get them all to fit.

I went to harbor freight and picked up a swivel head shear. It seams to work well enough. You can tell it is a cheap Chinese tool as it doesn't fit the hand well, its not balanced well, and the offset on each side of the head is different. If I had to use it everyday I would get a different one. It did this project so it was worth it in that sense.

I got all the panels rough cut and started installing them. I still need to add tabs to support the pieces but it is coming along.

I am battling death wobble right now. Sometimes I can go 60 and no problems and other times cant get past 45 before it shakes me to death. So far here are the things I have done to try and solve it:

1. Rebalance tires.
2. New heim joints on trackbar.
3. Add more caster to front end. Currently have about 7*.
4. Check toe in. When measured 47" apart I have 3/4" of toe in. Is that enough?
5. Swap my wife's 33"s from her jeep onto my ranger. Her jeep has no death wobble and they are 33" mtrs with less then 50 miles on them.
6. Steering box had slight slop in it so tightened adjuster nut on top.

Any ideas?

I also got the tubing painted so I can install all the sheet metal for good.
