Rocker help?

i bought a rv cam for my 3.0 and installed it,with my stock pushrods and rockers and now it seems like there is way to much valve lash play when the valves are closed. do i need longer pushrods? can anyone help?

When ever you change cams or rocker arms from anything other than stock the only correct way to know that your valvetrain geometry is correct is to check with a pushrod length checking tool and the pattern left on the valve tip. Comp cams has a great explanation on their web site.

As for different length pushrods in a 3.0 the only difference in length is from a non-roller motor to a roller motor, all pushrods in each style engine are the same length.

As for yours being too short now, I would say its a good possibility, as the RV cam may have a smaller base circle. Using the tool & actually checking a couple of cylinders is the only way to know for sure.

That sounds like a plan man, the funny thing is that the drivers side is the side that has the most slop, if i get the tool will that determined the size i will need? hows does that work if one side of the motor is shorter then the other? will they all have different size pushrods?

Hmmm

Sounds to me like you havn't started the engine yet. If not then go ahead and finish the job... It is hard indeed to tell what you are saying might be a problem.
Most, if not all, RV cams use the same rod length as stock. After the lifters are removed and reinstalled they loose some internal pressure and some slack can be seen in them from the top side..
Put it back together and start her up you will most likely not have a problem.

yeah your right i have been building this motor and never incountered this problem before, so you suggest just running it like that? will they tighten up you think?
