riding lawnmower burning up

If it does turn out to be the clutch, I might have one that's I'd send you if you paid the shipping.

I don't need it anymore, as the mower is now used for this:

That's me there in the middle shoving everyone else around.

EDIT: What motor do you have? I don't know if it matters, but the one I have is a Kohler V-twin.

did the guy who brought the one on the right with the tiny front wheels think, "man, this thing is going to win it all this year"? its like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

and it seems like it would take forever, lawn mowers that weigh like 200lbs running into eachother at speeds not fast enough to do any damage. and they dont have radiators, so over heating is out. looks fun though. id like to build a few of them and get my friends drunk in the backyard and have at it.

These things aren't slow, pulleys and transmissions/transaxles are swapped, and some have enough steel added to put them well over a thousand pounds. The engine in mine started out as a 24 horse v-twin kohler, and I can promise you it's making well over that now. :D I can dump the clutch in mine on dry ground (and sometimes even a little wet) and bring that 800 lbs up on the back wheels and carry a wheelie for about 20 ft or so, if it doesn't just try to dump me on over.

Govereners are removed, making these things scream, and overheat and/or lock-up. They have to remain belt driven (no chains or driveshaft) so those snap or get thrown a lot. Crunch someone's front end so they can't steer, then hit the in the back wheels so that you either ruin their tire, or break their transaxle housing. If their engine isn't well protected, aim for a head to break a spark plug, or break off their carb.

Or just get a side shot in and flip them over, just don't let the judge's think you did it intentionally. :secret:

I'll try to snag the gf's camera and take a pic of the front end of mine smashed up so maybe you'll get an idea of just how hard these actually will hit.

Lawnmower demolition derby! :headbang:

For all the broke suckers who can't afford to spend the money to derby cars anymore. It's gaining popularity in my part of the country. I've got about $40 into the whole mower build, including the mower, and most of that was for a new innertube and spraypaint. Me and a couple of my buddies pretty much dominate around here, and taking home prizes of $300 isn't uncommon and there are rumored to be a few derbies coming up where first will getcha $1000!

What are the requirements for that? Seems like everyone had to build those feet protectors? :icon_welder:

What are you guys doing there? Some tractors have empty seats. Are those guys dead?

Yeah, gotta have feet protection, no engines bigger than 25hp, no rear wheels bigger than 12" diameter, some restrictions on the bumpers, and that's basically it. There are some other rules obviously, but no major ones

The guys are still alive, but yes their mowers are dead. :icon_twisted:

I just got interested. I wish the speedway near me did that.

You get those pictures of you smashed front end?

I thought I recognized some of those people and Demolition lawn mowers in that picture. I was there for the Cornfest Derby in 2010. I went to watch my nephew Colby Wittman have at it in the derby. I remember your white demolition mower. As I recall, I think it was the loudest one there and with that governor removed it sounded like it was about to sling the rod any second.

I do remember the heavy downpour right after Colby's class.

I didn't have one for 2010 Cornstock derby, that pic is from the 2011 derby. I did however have the loudest one there last year. :D

The woman is pretty protective of here camera, she sees what happens to a lot of my stuff, lol. I'll have to wait for when she and I both home during the day.

Seems like Colby won the kids class or at least placed last year too....
