Ok, just came back inside...Truck was driving me insane today. Here is my question....The heat is not working whatsoever. So I did a search while at work today about possible solutions to try when I got home. (gotta love a government job where I get paid to surf the internet :yahoo:) So I read about checking the hoses to see if they were warm or not...Drive home (truck should be warm after a 20 minute autobahn drive) Pull it into my garage, and pop the hood...The hose where the sensor is hooked up is warm. The other hose is ambient temp....hmmmm....HEATER CORE!!!:icon_bounceblue: So I take out the heater core, and flush it out with a high pressure water line...tons of crud come out...SWEET! So just to double check it works correctly, I hook up a hose from the garages' water heater and plug it straight into the heater core....within seconds I was rewarded by a burning hot heater core! So I drain it back out and reinstall it....Hook the hoses back up, and start the truck.....Refill the overflow, and let the truck stay running...for 30 minutes....check to see if I have heat and still ICE COLD! So I checked the hoses again....same as before....the one going to the sensor is hot, but the other one is ambient. Seeing as I was running out of patience I buttoned everything back up, and backed it out of the garage. I get out, close up the garage and turn out the lights, and hop back in the truck, and what do I feel? Hot air coming out of the vents!?:icon_confused: Can someone please explain what is going on, and how can I maintain this heat because I have a strong feeling that I will leave for work tomorrow and it will be ice cold again.

Well it was nice and toasty inside the truck today after it got to temp. This is really weird....Hope it will stay like this though.

when you say sensor, do you mean "heater control valve' that is in the heater hose line?. is the hose hot on both sides of the "sensor". after you put the core back( The core is $20, maybe you should have just replaced it. did you fill the coolant back up and burp all the air out of the sytem. air bubbles can mess up the heat.

No...the sensor I am talking about is at the front of the truck....Looks exactly like the temp sensors for my mustang. The hose is warm on both sides of it....it is the return line that was not warming up. System was burped a couple of times... It's weird but it seems to be working now....getting nice and toasty in the truck now with temps outside in the low teens...

Not to sound crewed But i say just for a back up go buy one of them heaters that plugs in to the socket to be safe when was the last time you check the thermostat it it might be time to change it and to be safe change the hoses

your heater valve is not working which stop the coolant from flowing through the heater core...

ok...I have heat now...Enough to make my feet sweat! :P It didn't seem like the core was clogged up, but since pulling it out and putting it back in, it seems to help quite a bit..
