Rico's chopped II

Now that is the type of Camo paint I like, it looks like the army trucks from back when I was a kid, and my father was in the Army, I can't stand these new camos that they do now.

oh, I was a kid back when the earth was still cooling and cave men walked bent over and never heard of a comb.

sent with two Popsicle sticks, and duck tape.

when we were at the store buying the paint, he was a little unsure about doing a 4-color camo, and he was thinking that brown looks too red-ish. but i'd say it is better than the 3 color, (the 4th color was the lighter green) it used to be just dark green, brown, and black.

I think the brown is a perfect match for the BDUS of old. and so is the 4 color combination.

Well I like it, like I typed, I was a army brat back in the day, and this brings back memory's of when we lived in Germany , and my dad would take me to the base when they did the paint on the trucks, jeeps and tanks, this was back in the early to mid 70's.

Well thanks. I've grown to like it now too.

Hey Rico .. I plan on doing the chop similar to your in the very near future. Anything addition to your post other than the obvious I need to know?
Gonna also add chopped doors and an roll cage.. Also swap in a 4.0 and tyrant from explorer. ( possibly both axels and upgrade diff if possible). Any thoughts? Anyone?

The only thing I would do different is use fiberglass instead of body filler to finish it off.

Really?

I planned on using a TIG and mig.. I heard that the filler and fiber both shrink and crack over time.. I think welding might be my best option.

I would have welded mine but I'm not good enough to weld steel to fiberglass....yet.

yep, the hatch on a 89 BII is fiberglass, or at least mine is.

Robert

sent with a race car tire, and blown head gasket.

Time to go test this info.. Come here screwdriver and hammer... Time for you lobotomy mr. Hatch..
( results to come)

-g-

I haven't checked, but I think the hatch on a Explorer is metal, you could head to a Pull-A-Part and pick up one of them to use, that is IF it is metal.
