Hello everyone, I need your expertise regarding the oil cooler on a 1988 Bronco II. I'm referring to the part where the oil filter is screwed in.

There are two outlets where hoses connect, but I don't know if they're connected to the engine's cooling system via the water pump or if they're oil lines that go to a radiator. Can these two outlets be plugged or bypassed?

Ford likes to use the water cooled design that has engine coolant running through it. So, chances are good yours is the same.

You should be able to cap them off. Just make sure something done to close off or eliminate where the hoses connect into the engine cooling system.

Can you post a picture or two of this setup? I've never seen an oil cooler on one of those trucks. Curious if it's an aftermarket deal or maybe overseas trucks came with it. Would be pretty easy to use a remote oil filter adapter kit to build your own.

The name should have clued me in to check where the OP lives. Good catch.

Lying under the vehicle, it's impossible to take a picture, so I'll try to explain it another way.

In this first photo, you can see the oil filter adapter.

In the second photo, you can see the cooler that attaches to the adapter.
and on the diagram you can see where it connects, where the blue arrow is.

The second pic looks like the filter relocating kit i had to use my 88 when we V8 swapped it back in the 90s. Hopefully someone smarter than me chimes in though haha
