I have a 1989 manual trans 2.9L ranger. My reverse lights stay on all the time from the point I turn on the key to the point I turn the truck off. Is that a bad neutral safety switch? I also have the anti lock brake light on, on the dash are they related? Please help this has been my project truck since I bought it for $560.

There is a switch on the transmission that may be bad. What you need to do is crawl under the truck and look at the passenger side of the transmission to unplug the connector. Leave the truck on and when the lights go ouot then you have found your problem.

It's a red switch on the driver side of the trans. When you replace it, be sure you don't lose the actuating pin. It should stay in the trans, but some fall out.

It is unrelated to the neutral safety switch and ABS.
