Reverse lights dont work

I just recently bought a 2000 ranger and have realized the reverse lights do not work, i bought new bulbs and that didn't solve the problem... checked the fuses and they seemed to be okay, any help?

Auto or manual? Possible neutral safety switch needs replaced or adjusted.

I am not positive but on my truck I think it is on the side of the transmission just cant remember which side right know.lol.
