my truck has a rev. limiter at 3 rpm...? the guy i bought it from must have set it at that when he bought it from the dealer or somethin. its a 2002, how do i go about taking that limiter out or reprogramming it? its automatic but do you think it being set at 3 changes my mpg? thanks all

how did you check the limiter? will it go over 3000 in drive, most newer cars cutout at about 2500 to 3000 while in park and sometimes neutral.

Why? What's the purpose of revving the hell out of the engine when you're not in gear?

how did you check the limiter?

Hit the juice!

Being a dumbass ive seen that the rev cuts out at 3000 grand, i have dual exhaust and id want to hear it and id rev. for these girls, thats how i figured it out. but i was just askin. maybe it would help in the gears shifting while in drive. i dont know exactly what the stock rev. limiter is, just trying to figure it out.

The rev limiter is factory set in your CPU for autos. It is to prevent kids from reving the hell out of the engine in neutral and dropping it into drive - and blowing up the trans. Most programmers (like my SuperChips Cortex) will change this SLIGHTLY (in neutral) but are designed to raise the rpm during WOT in drive.

Mine has the limiter also...I guess! I would never have reved it to it's limit..not in a hundred years! I only know I have a limiter from reading posts like yours and seeing the answers.
The ladies like my looks...I don't have to rev my engine for em.
Big JIm

Oh i bet they do bigjim but i like reving it for the chicks that like trucks.
