i was wondering does the ford ranger have a rev limiter, my stepdads nissan does, i havent hit the redline yet, scared i wont find one haha

all efis do, all it is is a fuel cut, idk what the spesific redline is on your truck or the limit but its way above what you should ever need

My auto tranny shifts at 5800 RPM (floored) with a 4.0- that's with a hot program tho.

so then i shouldnt worry about blowin it up thanx again guys

i guess that all depends on if you have the cash to replace ur motor lol

uhh...... disregard ANYTHING i EVER say regarding vehicle abuse if you honestly care about your vehicle or have to rely on it in any way. take note of the picture below. the fenders are trimmed and beaten with a hammer to the point they no longer rub my tires. i welded the window guards to the body etc......

I'd say it depends on the age of the motor and the way it's been driven. A 20 year old motor that has been rodded alot might blow BEFORE the limiter. Just keep your engine's history in mind while driving, and think about how bad it would suck to not have your rig anymore.

It sucks. I have been rangerless for about 3 months now because of it. my 88 blew up when I was driving it normally. I was a bit harsh on it at times though. Alot of times. Should be running again sunday though

in many cases WHEN a motor goes is a crap shoot, i have seen them run with NO OIL and not throw a bearing, rod, or anything else. i have also seen them let a rod go through the oil pan on the free way with a little over 100k on it. its just luck, but bouncing off the rev limiter it still poking the proverbial bear.

It depends on the year of the vehicle and whether it has a manual or automatic transmission. My 02 with an auto will shift before redline. If you have it in nuetral or park it will not rev over 3500 rpms.
