just wondering how i can turn off the rev limiter on my 2011 ranger 4.0sohc....thanks for your help in advance!

Why would you want to? Its there to protect the engine from over revving and getting damaged.

I am assuming you are speaking of the limiter in Neutral and Park.. In any of the drives I doubt you have found the limiter on a new ride.
The engine doesn't have more power beyond the limiter placed on it from the factory... There is no reason to run it higher.
Perhaps you are thinking of the SPEED limiter.. All newer vehicles have a speed limiter that is supposed to limit the speed to the RATING of the tires shipped on it from the factory.. THAT limiter can be programmed out of the system with a good programmer.

sorry

yes the speed limiter is what i want to turn off but not sure how to do so? sorry this is the first ranger i have owned and the last car i had was a 88 mustang carb setup so this is all very new to me.

Now I'm going to ask why you would need to remove the speed limiter? Are you really planning on going over 93 (I believe) MPH?

Yep!

I am the proud recepient of a 91mph ticket I was able to get near El Paso this winter.. So I may not be the one to speak... But that said I'm not willing to spend the money to buy a PROGRAMMER just to allow my ride unlimited MPH.
None of the rides in my stable will make 100mph on the gauge, I know this for sure as I have tried them all....
Having the wide open spaces that we have down here I'd for sure be getting 125MPH tickets if I did away with the speed limiter.
It is easily doable with a programmer. ANY of your local Hotrod shops can explain how and how much $$$ it'll costya.
