have a mish mash ranger. and apparently it has a 88 frame 93 body. but it had the 88 box on it. well prev owner put a later model splash box on it with the 3 bulb tail lights. do i guess 2 questions. how did he get it to work on 5 wires? and how do i get the 6 wire tailights to work correctly. currently the ambers light up with the brakes ( along with the red and i understand why)

couldnt i just get some newer taillight buckets and be better off or maybe i can find where he spliced? trailer adapter mod?
is there a way to cut and then run a wire from the brake switch to the brakes. so the tailights are lighting under braking.

my real concern is the ambers that light up under braking, or could i just wire it so it doesnt even use the ambers? would that be ok or would the popo frown on that? thanks for your time.

It sounds like you have five wire lights on a four wire system. Easiest thing is to cut the feed wire from the amber lights and connect the appropriate side rear one to the appropriate side front turn signal light. This is not a complete solution as both colours will flash with the flashers but when you push the brakes, only the red will activate.
