i sanded scraped grinded etc my bed and sprayed rustolium spray on bed liner. it was cheap its textured and untill i find the time and money to apply a roll on liner it keeps the rust from coming back. oh and it looks better than rust.

so that is the rustoleum right? looks pretty smooth and nice.

what exactly did you use to grind/sand the paint and rust down? to clean/prep? any finishing coat?

yes its rustoleum i mostly used a wire wheel, a grinder or sand blaster would be better. i grind-ed maybe two or three times, then i used a air compressor to blow off the bed before and after i grind-ed then i just washed the bed with soap and water handrying before i sprayed. i taped off the top so i the liner continues on the top of the bed like a real liner would. i used duplicolor first then tried rustoleum i though the rustoleum gave a thicker more textured coat so i stuck with it. it is just meant to keep rust off and improve the look of the truck until i can afford to buy a role on liner ill give a write up when i do that. its been a while since i did this. so far its held up well. parts have chipped off (where i applied the duplicolor) but over all Ive been surprised at the durability and grip of this stuff. ive had dirt bikes random trash from dumping trash from construction sites, endless 5 gallon jugs of paint being thrown in and sliding around. this cheap liner has held up. i think a coat of primer might have been a good idea before i sprayed the liner but like i said ive been pleased with the longevity of this stuff.

i agree but 14 bucks to make the bed look better vs $100 for a permanent solution isnt much of a comparison when you have only 20 bucks to your name makes the choice kind of non-existent but i will be rolling on herculiner when i get the money. tough times....yeah

looks good
it will protect the bed until u get a better one
its better than watchin the bed rust imo

not sure about that. but i was going to give it another quick brushing and spray another coat on. im holding out for the herculiner though
