ok so i ordered a resistor and took the fender well apart to get to it. I pulled it out but i couldn't unplug it from the harness. I actually chipped part of the resistor trying to separate it from the wires. is the easiest thing to do just to order a plug too? thx

they might be melted together, this is common.

oh, ok. that would make sense. so i guess i have to buy the wire part too.

Did you check the blower motor and make sure the ground is good there is a reason why the wires and connector got that hot. pull the ground off and sand it metal to metal

Do you have a schematic mine only goes up to 1990 but the motor has two wires one hot and the ground is switched then goes thru the resistor block so the ground would be around the switch according to the 90 schematic it probably wouldnt hurt to pull the switch and look for anything burnt or melted. The resistor naturally gets hot that is why it is put in the duct and if the blower was not working it would get real hot without the air blowing across it. Check at the resistor wires from the switch and see if you get a ground on all the positions first doing a short check or using a test light from any good hot wire. If the switch check out good then jumper the two wires to the blower and see if it works or if the wires get hot.

lmc truck has the plug with pig tails for 10 bucks i think

the one i saw in LMC only went up to 94 rangers and mine's a 97. i might go to a parts store of ford for the piece

ok i finally got around to finishing the job. The ground was good and I went and bought a new plug from ford. probably overpaid but oh well. the resistor from the truck was so rusty it was kinda funny. thanks for the advice guys.:icon_thumby:
