Reservoir squirts

I had the front end up to check the steering linkages.
As I turned the steering near full lock, a stream of fluid came out of the breather hole of the pump reservoir. I was surprised!
The steering box is covered in oil and at first I thought one of the hoses was leaking. I now think oil from the reservoir is the culprit.
Is an air lock causing the fluid to leave the reservoir?

Thanks,

Dan

It is normal, when the wheels are turned quickly, for this to happen.

Is it over filled?

No, I am careful about that.

Recently, I put in about 4 oz of Lucas Stop leak. Hard to tell if it stopped any leaks but the steering was much "tighter".
The looseness in the Ranger was at first alarming coming from driving sedans.
It's no sports car but the Lucas has helped a lot. It is thicker than regular pump oil.

That's why I was checking the steering linkages for slop but I found none.

Normal...the fluid has to go somewhere when it's forced to...
