I was coming back from lunch today and was on a back road when I ran up on a Nissan Versa that had run off the road, down about a 6 foot embankment and nosed down in a muddy ditch.

It was a couple of kids, he even admitted to being an idiot and trying to take the corner too fast. That's cool with me, as long as you don't try to blow smoke up my ass, I won't pass judgment LOL.

Anyway, he asked if I had anything to help get him out, I looked at his situation and said yeah, I have a cell phone so that you can call a wrecker. He informed me that they didn't have any money.

Being the nice guy I am, and probably and idiot for accepting the liability, I found a tow hook in the back of his car and winched him out. It spoke volumes for the SmittyBilt XRC8, it dragged his ass right up the embankment, then I put it in 4-wheel low to get him up on the pavement. They were grateful and even cleaned up the ruts they made in the Old Lady's yard.

Anyway, good deed of the day, Ranger to the Rescue and they went on their merry way.

Hellz to the Yeah! Good deeds do not go unseen a lot of the time.

I hope thie kids learned two thing today: 1. Don't be idiots and drive a bit slower. AND 2. despite all the news to the contrary, there are still plent of good helpful people out there willing to lend a hand.

I hope they "pay it forward" some day.

Pay it forward is one of my favorite terms. I did tell them to be more careful and to remember, not everyone in a truck is a redneck :icon_thumby:

Im kind of impressed that they even tried to clean up the ruts.

I was too, they were kind of "Beatnik", they thought maybe if they could get some traction they could pull forward through her yard, she was out there saying, uhhhh... no. They mentioned going forward and I immediately warned them that she would most likely have them arrested for trespassing.

They were nice kids, weren't high, weren't drunk, just made a bone head move and I won't cast the first stone there :not_i:

No, what sucks is, my boss was there too and he has an iPhone, after the fact I thought of him recording it LOL.

Darn....I would have loved to have seen that!!! Not too many vids of rescue efforts!!! lol

lol, i thought those kind existed in the 50s???

Good job on the recovery tho, i hope they won't forget what you did for them, and will treat others with the kindness you treated them to. :icon_thumby:

good job man! i also try to help people out whenever i can. luckily you got there before they went forward and tore that lady's yard up more...
