I tried searching, but came to no conclusions.

The Front rotors on my '96 2WD short bed are warped, looking for some good replacements.

I'm not limiting myself to OEM, but want something that will last.

I average any 85-300 Mi. a week and do not tow or carry any loads.

If you need any more info or if there is a thread that pertains to my problem just let me know!

Rotors warp when heated, particularly if the rotors were replaced with the
cheap ones made in China.

When hunting for rotors for my own truck I prefer any rotors made in
the US or Canada to rotors made in Asia (Except Japan).

OEM are the best and for a '95-97 Ranger OEM is either Bosch or Bendix.

Pay attention to nation of origin when asking at the parts counter.
If they can't (or won't answer) don't buy them.

How you run-in your brakes is almost as important as the initial quality... slow and gentle is the best way.

I expect to take a week of more gentle than normal use for the first week to get best long term use from brakes.

I NEVER simply "slap" a set of pads onto an exsisting set of rotors
without having them cut.

Why? because on burnished rotors the pads may never bed properly

I just ordered and received a set of Brembo rotors for the front of my BII, which seems to want to warp every rotor I buy (okay - cheap!). The Brembo's were $26 each with shipping. When they arrived . . . made in Mexico. Just where can one GET made in the USA or Canada rotors? (Not just drilled and/or coated Chinese brakes, like many of the "performance" rotors, but actually made.)

Also, has anyone actually had a set of rotors cryo treated? If so, any success in eliminating the eventual warping?

maybe I'm to retarded to notice but I've never had a problem with warping? Not on my Mustang or Ranger. And I beat on the Mustang pretty hard, I just by the cheap raybestos from rockauto.com

Back about 20 years ago when I was running an import shop I ordered a pair of Rotors from my auto parts supplier for my own car.

Being tired at the time I didn't specify that I wanted Girling rotors and the counterman ordered them from Beck-Arnley (an import supplier)
what came inside the Blue Beck-Anrley boxes were red and white Brembo boxes and rotors proudly stamped "Fabrique en Italia"
I called the counterman back and told him to get TEN pairs
immediatly and to invoice them to me and if he would to stock
ten additional pairs in the store that I'd take them over the next month.

At the time the italian made Brembo rotors were the best money
could buy.

After mounting them up and putting a quick truing cut ona brembo rotor they were still 1.5mm over the saab specificed maximum thickness... that was just fine with me...

They were also the most warp resistant rotors I ever had.

I NEVER had any customer comebacks with them

Most warping issues are related to proper brake function
(clean release) and careful bed-in proceedure.

IF you keep warping rotors check the condition of the inner pad thrust surface on the steering knuckle.

It's likely the knuckle is worn.

Current Brembo Part Numbers

I remember from the MG/British sportscar community about the quality of Brembo rotors.

So if someone knows them, maybe post a list of the Brembo part numbers for the different Ranger years here?

Well, way back when this was for a Saab.

I'm unaware if Brembo actually makes rotors to fit a Ranger.

If someone finds out I'd like to know.

I am also researching replacement rotors for my Ranger (2000 4X4 with 33's). As with others, I have had problems with my rotors warping. As for the Brembo question, they do offer rotors for the Ranger. The slotted/cross drilled sport rotors can be found with the following part number (37010). They also make a solid vented replacement rotor, but I do not have the part number for that one.

I just ordered a pair of rotors today to upgrade my 91 to the twin piston 95-97 pieces.
They are drilled/slotted upgrade units. I'll get some pics when they arrive.

Here's where I found them... R1Concepts on Ebay

Bendix will not let you down.

Generally slotted/drilled is a complete waste of money...and will only prove to shorten the lifespan of the rotor (esp 99% of the drilled)

Having said that my Lotus came w/ drilled from the factory, but you can bet they cannot be had for under 1k.

Just an update on my "quality" Brembo rotors . . . ('87 BII 4WD)

Although purchased months ago, I just installed the first rotor (LS) two weeks ago while replacing a u-joint). All went well. This week I installed the RS rotor. Imagine my surprise when the brake pedal pulsed up and down an inch! After taking the whole thing apart again the next day, I discover the inside bearing race was installed lopsided (by about .015"!), causing severe brake pulsing. I did not try to figure out why (improper machining, dirt/shavings under race???) and installed a good ole AutoZone rotor. My perception of Brembo quality is ZERO. There must be NO quality control to let a part like this out as assembled. Additionally, I am VERY disappointed in the response of autopartswarehouse.com in handling this problem. (another story)

My take-away - do not buy Brembo parts whatever quality that was once associated with this brand is gone. And do not make another purchase from autopartswarehouse.com.

I could've told you about APWH. Just do a google search for Auto Parts Warehouse and scam.
