okay so the shocks on my 91 are toast, so im looking to replace them with a reputable brand. i Want to upgrade over stock but i dont wanna spend more than 275$, can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks guys

I have rancho 5000's on my truck now and I will never go with anything else. A good medium between comfort and performance.

Bilsteins

That's almost guaranteed to blow well past $275 for all 4.

I would say look at KYB gas shocks. These are decent and (I'm just guessing) around $60 each (I paid $45 ea. last time I bought KYBs maybe 10-12 years ago)

I have run Bilsteins, KYBs and Rancho. All three are good shocks. For the money KYBs are a good buy. I like the GR-2s for a decent ride and the Gas-a-just if you want a stiffer shock.
I ran Bilsteins on an Explorer for a few years and liked them a lot. Shop around and you can find them for about $70 to$80 a piece.
Ranchos are strong shocks. I used to have a 67 Jeep Gladiator that I jumped a lot and I broke shock mounts but not shocks.

I won't ever buy another Rancho product again. :annoyed:

Bilsteins are worth the extra money. If I can score a deal for the rears like the fronts I have, I'll have less than $250 in all 4.

I'm in favor of the KYBs, I had 4 KYBs on my truck for years. I just replaced them with some NAPA ones and wish I had my KYBs back. Thing rides like a brick now, I know it's a truck, but some of the potholes around here that it used to just float over will jar your teeth out now.

i have both rancho rs5000 and pro comp es3000 and i cannot tell the difference in both, i love the ride, better than stock for sure!!!! rides much smoother now and more sporty at the same time ... i read in a few forums that pro comp es3000 are basically the same as rancho rs5000 at the fraction of the cost like 30$ a piece...... i have also herd great things about KYB, good price, but i have no experience with them.. and of course theres bilstein haha but expensive, .. or even FOX if you wanna go all out.... but pro comp es3000 and KYB are good budget choices

Thanks for the info... I trust your judgement, I put Monroe sensa tracs and they're ok but they don't handle pot holes and wash board,. the KYB's you ran, we're they oem replacement or do you have a lift? I would be putting them on the front for now on a stock 00' 4x4 xlt 4.0 if that matters.
