My truck was recently flipped on its side and it caved in the extended cab body panel, i found a good cab with a good extended cab panel, what would be the best way to take it off of the junk yard cab and put it on my cab?

EDIT: & i also didnt flop it on a wheelin trip, some stupid ass crackhead on a bicycle ran out in front of me & i swerved to miss him in grass which was wet so it started sliding till it caught the sidewalk & then flipped over, luckily most of it landed on the grass. lookin at the marks you couldnt really tell how i got where i was.me & my buddy were dazed for a sec but unscathed except i hit my head on the ground when it flipped w/ just a headache afterwards, but got my arm inside in time.crackhead ran off b4 we got outa the truck was heading into a nice neigborhood when he crossed in front of me probably going to steal peoples stuff.bout 8 cops showed(said they had a boring night)but they were cool, they let me have another buddy pull the truck over instead of paying for a tow truck.probably woulnt have been mad if i did it wheelin!

have you tried to pop the dent out from in the cab? that would be allot easier then replacing the panel.

exactly, why replace that if you are just gonna go wheelin' again and possibly do it all over again....

not to mention chicks dig trail scars:headbang:

i havent tried to kick it out yet,but you cant really tell in the pics but its creased in a few places & i didnt want to use any bondo unless on the seams when i put it together .would i still be able to get the creases out w/ a lil bondo? im tryin to use as little as possible cuz ive seen it pop out of the body on trucks when wheelin.

like i said before....no reason to try to bondo or replace if ya just gonna wheel again....

why spend several hundred dollars and time if ya just gonna take it back out and possibly scratch or dent it again:icon_confused:

if that was the last time it ever be off pavement...then do whatever

i edited in what happened to it,after your first post.its my DD & i like my stuff to look nice.& it will be offroad again ,but nothing hardcore, ill get another single cab ranger for that.i am gonna try to kick it out for now

does anyone know where to buy that special bit that drills out spot welds?

not tryin to have a contest but mnes worse. they didnt try to get the dent out al the way and has like 2 gallons of bondo. dent even went to the roof and the back of the cab. slid into a tele pole

tried to kick it out & got half of it to pop out but cant get the dent closest to the back of the cab to pop out.

has anyone on here replaced the entire panel b4?????

I've done some body work and I will tell you to get that thing looking pretty it will require a fair bit of bondo and a lot of paint. With the 2-tone and strip your looking at a bit of a pain in the butt to make it look perfect. If you are willing to settle for just good... get a hammer and dolly set from Princess Auto or where ever and go to town. You should be able to make it look Okay. Instead of one big dent it'll be little ones in the rough shape of the truck normally.

cutting out and replacing that panel is a major under taking involving some special knowledge about body work. i would get a dent puller and start hammering it out best you can puddy it flat call it a day. i watched my oldest son do full rear quarters on his 72 fast back and i would not even think about it.you have much smaller panel but the processes or the same .. and i can tell you its huge amount of work to make it look good. (if you not a body man) just my 2 cents

ive been reading alot on body forums & how to take out spot welds & looking at the corner piece that i cut out off the junkyard truck & i think if i can get all the spotwelds out i should get it out fairly easy then just have a pro weld back in then glass the edges.
as far as i can tell thats all that holds it on,maybe some adhesive but shouldnt be too hard.

i think tommorrow im gonna go to a body shop & see what they would do to fix it.

Basically you want to drill out all the spot welds and weld in a new panel. A used panel should be reasonable in the junkyard and if you can't find one I have one from a 99. If it was me I would fix it. Mine wasn't as bad as yours but heres a dent I just fixed.
