replacing drums, any suggestions?

No, the drums are adjusted by the ebrake on 99% of all cars & Lite Trucks with rear drums. The trick I use is to adjust the shoes out to were the drum just sticks while slidding it on. Get me close, then a dozen or so set of the ebrake, and done.:clapping::beer:

I am a novice mechanic. So go easy on me I did not understand that last post at all did you mean that before you put the drums on you expand the shoes so that the drun just fits. What about the 12 something. And the drums are adjusted by the ebrake. Me confused. Lol

the drums are not adjusted by the e brake. I drove around backwards in an empty parking lot yesterday and brake hard quite often. after a cpl dozen brakes, they started feeling better and the parking brake felt better, but still not nearly like it was before.

reason I know they are not adjusted by the e brake is cause I changed the drums on a sunfire and I never touched the ebrake while adjusting them. only to check to see if they were working. they are adjusted when you brake in reverse

however, if I'm truely wrong on this, then my apologies.

on my truck they are suppose to adjust by braing when you are going backwards but it does not always work great. best to get tem tight by adjusting the wheel thru the slot in the back of the plate.

update:
took the drums off. the upper spreader bar on the drive side popped off. fixed it, bleed the brakes real good. seems to be working fine. HOWEVER, is the parking/e brake suppose to stop the vehicle from rolling backwards? And if both rear wheels are off the ground, will the drive side wheel be sluggish/hardly move at all?

the ebrake should keep the car from rolling backwards. when you spin the wheel there should be a little drag. it should not barely move
