replacing clutch need some help

I replaced my clutch when I first got my 88. The guy before me did not know how to drive a stick even after 3 years of driving it he still rode the clutch. I had no jack or jack stands. Basically I took the drive shafts off T-case off and unbolted the trans on a wooden block then crawled under the trans and wiggled it out with it on top of me....it is a tight fit but a trans can come out without jacking the truck up :shok: IF you have jacks and stands it will be easy, as was my second time taking it out to replace the slave cylinder :temper: Good luck :icon_thumby:

...then crawled under the trans and wiggled it out with it on top of me....

I did that once when I was 16. TH-350 in a 70 Chevelle. Being young and dumb, I neglected to drain the transmission first. It came loose and pinned me to ground! :icon_surprised: After a few moments of sqeaking for help that I no one could hear, I finally wiggled out from under it. Thereafter, I have always used a transmission jack or at least a floor jack.

Grown man with a manual transmission...do-able.
Teenage kid with an auto transmission, torque convertor, and ~9 qts of fluid...sqaushed.

last one i did, i lifted it with a loader
and set it on a pair of band duals
from a tractor.
