Replacing brake shoes...Do I need to turn the drums?

Putting on new brakes shoes to upgrade. Not sure how long the old ones were on but they look almost new.

Drums measure well below the max diameter. No gouging or deep grooves.

Only this is the tiny lip on the edge of the drum where the shoes don't wear the surface down. Is it worth turning the drums just for that little lip? I'm assuming the new shoes will line up pretty close to it.

Thanks!

They could still be out of round (warped) and look good visually. Also, the lip will make it harder to put them back on. I would either have them machined or for a little more buy new drums. I would also buy new hardware kits which really make a difference in how well the new brakes perform.:icon_cheers:

i would, but you dont have to. at least sand them with some sandpaper. maybe file some of the lip off. make sure to use never sieze on the adjuster though, cause if that gets bound up, good luck getting the drum off ever again without smashing it to pieces.
