replacing 2.9l engine

I think I punched the gas at the right time.Why would the truck have no pulling power?I can go up a hill and put the gas pedal to the floor and it does not respond.Could the computer be having a hard time recongniseing the new engine?

If the vacuum line going to the map sensor is coming from the wrong place,would that cause this trouble? Also,if the ground wires are in the wrong place,could that be a cause?Where should the ground wires run to under the truck?

Yes. If it is the wrong motor. I put a '88 BII 2.9 into a '90 BII and it did about the same thing. Rough idle and no power. I had to put the '88 puter into the 90. That cured all the trouble. Double check with the dealer you got the motor from.

I had a Ford dealer put it in my '88. It came right from Ford. Has the little tag on it still. The '88 was totalled by a senior citizen, with no license or insurance, running a stop sign. I pulled the motor and eventually put it into my sons '90 BII. I ended up having to swao the ECM.

I found the problem.It was a loose fuel injector connection.Now thw only problem I have is the lifters on the left side is ticking.Is this just from being a new engine or do the valves need to be adjusted>Is there a break in period?
