Need new tranny, which auto trannys are interchangeable for a 1996 Mazda B4000 with a 4.0L OHV V6 motor?
I think I have a 4R55E tranny now...its on its way out and I'm looking for a replacement. I will also be swapping the motor out for a lower mileage 4.0L OHV V6 (same motor thats in there now).
What should I look for tranny wise? Another 4R55E (seems like a solid transmission, the one I have has lasted 200,000 miles and counting) or should I look for another one thats better? What bout a 5R55E, or 5R55W?
Might also like to swap in a manual transfercase while everything is apart just FYI. Do it all at once type of thing.
Will I run into computer problems?
I thought about swapping to a manual transmission, but I have a Powertrax No-Slip rear locker, and have heard "stories" about them being really clunky with a manual? Correct or no?
