Replacement 3.0 recommendation

So I've decided to replace instead of rebuild the 3.0 in my 2004 Ranger. I'm looking for any recommendations or warnings on who to go to or who to stay away from. Local parts store wants $1800 for the long block, have found a couple places online with the lowest so far being about $1500. If I had the time and patience I'd just rebuild, but time is short and patience is shorter. Any info or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Get one from a junkyard out of a totalled ranger. Probably you can get one with under 100k miles and installed with a warranty for less than 900 bux

Def don't get one from a local parts store.

Jasper or Ford reman are my choices. Maybe a bit more expensive, but you can't beat the warranty or the quality.

^^^What he said. If you are gong to keep the truck then do it, Bro!!!! You get a great warranty with companies that have been around for a long time. Can you do the work or do you need to take it to a shop? Figure the cost of the 'new' motor over a used one with lots of miles or pay to have the better one installed and guaranteed. It is much cheaper then buying another vehicle for sure.

I can do the swap, no worries there. I've found a couple companies that have 3 year/100,000 mile warranties which seems pretty good to me. The cheapest junkyard motor I've found it almost $1000.00 with a 30 day warranty, we're keeping the truck so I figure might as well go with a new motor over the junkyard.
