so a while ago I hit my head on my slider window when i hit a bump and shattered it. (it was held together with cheap tint and packaging tape) today, my friend and I went to the junkyard and finally replaced it. getting the window out of my truck and the donor truck was easy. putting it in was a pain. anyway, here's how it turned out:

Before:

During:

After:

looking good
i tried to seal the gasket on my moms Ranger, cuz it leaked water, but i couldnt put the window back lol, i had to take it to a shop.
nice light bar btw

i dont even want to talk about getting a rear window in....i spent a good hour fighting mine the other night

thx RSH. yeah, it took us a good hour and a half to two hours. the top part of the seal was the worst.

yea thats what a had problems with

yeah, it was a pain. I have to say though, the cab seems bigger without the slider window.

did you use a lenth of rope and dishwashing soap ???

Just replaced mine recently too. Getting it in and out was fairly easy, but I've had trouble with leaking. I pulled it out again and tried to seal it up, waiting for the next rain to see if it worked.

I like the way yours looks. Solid glass really does look better than sliding, but I like the window.

No, I just used a handful of flat-head screwdrivers and a lot of elbow grease. haha

Thx. I do too.

Would have been alot easier if you take some thin rope, long enough to go around the window and with about 12" past the ends, and then cover it in soap, wrap it around the window seal, in the channel that goes over the metal lip of the truck, have someone on the out side of the truck holding the window in place and putting a little pressure on it, slowly pull the rope from the inside of the truck and it will pull the lip in place, I use to do this all the time on VW bug windows.

that's genius. I wish I would've heard of that before I put in the window.

Mine leaked from the top seal weathering I assume. Calked it in.

My reasoning for taking no further measures?
1. Im cheap
2. Caulk worked out really well and if done right it looks clean on a white truck(keep it off the black trim)
3. I will NOT go without a sliding window. If the next truck doesn't have a sliding window its not a dealbreaker only because I will be getting one on e-Gay. Even though the thing is shut 80% of the time, there is nothing better than the cool breeze on the back of your neck on a nice day

Rained today and mine's still leaking. Looking like I'm going to have to go the caulking route as well. My window has the same problem with the top seal weathering and pulling away from the metal. It's just letting water pool up in there and eventually seep through. My truck is gray though so I'm going to try to get the caulking under the seal. I swear I'm going to get this window fixed up eventually. :no2:
