My credo
the grey-t escape
last year at the local fair some woman parked too close with a extended cab chevrolet and my l.r. tailight assy got cracked. when i went to the junkyard for a replacement, there were no gen 3's with tailights in the bed. i did however find a gen 4 (think it was a '99) with 2 good taillights. and the best thing about them is the backup light is closest to the ground, i can see a bit better backing up at night. was considering a set of driving lights mounted under the back bumper for auxillary back up lights, but i think these made things good enough to not need them. stock tails:

If you aren't paying close attention to the first pic, it looks like the bed is floating in mid air.

Looks good though, didn't go with the all red ones? Or you couldn't find any?

thats all i was able to find. all the other rangers at the yard (and there was only about 5 total) were missing taillight assy's. must be as hot a salvage item as manual hubs. didnt want to buy new at that time. and thats the way to pull the bed, tractor with a loader, forklift forks attached to the bucket. was replacing fuel pump assembly at that particular time.

Ain't that the truth. :icon_confused:
I had no luck finding an OEM replacement LR taillight locally for my '94 (didn't want an aftermarket one). All but one salvage yard had none (and the one that did, they wanted $50 for a f'in' used taillight!!)

I finally found a used OEM one in decent condition on ebay for $27 I think it came out to after shipping.

Yeah, '98-'99 are the ones you got. '00 brought back the two-bulb tails.
Looks good :icon_thumby:

Ohh, I just use these things called biceps lol.
Ya I wanna get I guess they'd be gem 5 tails for my gem 4? Since I'm a 99. I never care about this gem crap I jus go by year. So 2005 tails on my 99 I want.

Lol cardomain people are so funny... Alright well off to bed, I got ass to eat and... We'll... I guess that's it... Really thought I had more there...

Ohh yeah, even though prob have to stretch some wires I'd rather drill bottom of 06+ tails then splice. I was curious, you know if you could just take the wiresfrom your light donor vehicle and theyll hook up or different pin types/won't control it right?

FYI the 2000 tail lights are all red and still have the 3 bulb setup. I just put a set in my
'97 and it took about 5 minutes. Wiring is pretty snug because of the different bulb locations but they go right in. Watch out for aftermarket ones though. I bought a set on ebay and they looked great and were made in USA but I watched in horror as they filled with water the first time I washed the truck. About an hour with a tube of clear silicone took care of it but it still pissed me off. Looks good though. Paid like $38 for a pair and $5 shipping.
