So I kind of explained in another thread what is wrong with my tranny on my 88 2.9 5-speed...

"My 5th and reverse 'forks' are horribly smoothed out on the edges and it's easy to accidentally pop it into 4th and then actually maneuver the damn thing to the right of fourth and behind reverse! (thank you tension springs!) So now when I'm going from 4th to 5th I have to 'walk' the shifter very slowly up then way over to the right into 5th. When I'm coming out of 5th I have to pull it way to the right again and then into neutral, then from there to whatever gear is still normal. "

Now, I was lucky enough to find an 88 Bronco II with the same tranny (it's a 5-speed 4x4 like mine) at a pull-it-yourself junk yard, and I'm going to go pick it up saturday. Is there anything special I need to know about pulling it before I go?

Also, I would like to be able to redo one of the tranny's forks so that it's like new again... Any hints on how to do this? I figure with at least one extra tranny it'll be easier to do without having to worry about putting it back together right away.
