CJ Pony parts is claiming Hertz is possibly bringing the Rent-a-Racer program back. They would be bringing in some 2012 Shelby's as a "50th Anniversary" thing (even though that's not until April 17, 2014). Talk about an awesome vehicle to rent!! Rent a car to take it to the local track!

Currently Hertz offers what they call "The Adrenaline Package". It has the option of the Challenger R/T, Camaro SS, or Mustang GT Premium. For some reason they have the SS rated at 400 hp, but I thought it was 426 hp.

I was thinking of renting the 3.7L Mustang just to see how it felt but this is more interesting.

.

They have the new (06-09) Shelby Gt-h available at select locations and have since 06. I worked fire Hertz and drove it very often for work. Fun car, handles like a dream, a wet one too.

That would be like old times again. But of course as Motor Trend, Car and Driver and Hot Rod mags back in the old days who did articles and test drives on the rent a racers always stated...the cars have been modified (regulated) not to produce the true hp the factory made it with or hit the true top end speed. This was to limit the liability of death and car destruction.....I wonder why??

You would think this would make them a little less collectible......

No, just more special.

Something else that seperates them from either a regular GT or a GT-500.

I was watching Barret Jackson last night, they mentioned it isn't uncommon to find welds in the old GT-H's where people welded in a rollbar for the time they rented it and cut it out when they were through. :D

Personally I wouldn't want to buy one... you know it is going to be beat.

What I remember is that they put a blank plaastic piece over the traction control. ie no burn outs. So what you do is pull off the plastic piece and hit the button. That way you can let the smoke out of the tires.

Cheaters!
