removing ruberized coatings

I'VE been working on upgrading my radio bezel to one from an explorer with fog light switches and came across this video wondered if it was worth trying? i see how it would work but would plastic type primer stick if wiped down with the prep-so (or other type of solvent first???)

this may sound crazy(it did to me)and not sure if i would do it,anyways my old boss used brake fluid to paint the dash on one of our big trucks,and it actually worked.i would think that using an oily liquid to prep a dash for paint i kinda a stupid idea but it worked for him
