Just some pics and thoughts on taking stuff off before crushing.

A couple pics of what I'm starting with. I did lower it down to work on it. I will be pulling the motor and wiring harness to give to a friend who is putting it into an English car. The a4ld was rebuilt not long before the truck stopped running. That will go into my pinto behind the 2.8l.

Some pics of the throttle cable and cruise cable. I may keep them for some other project. Not sure yet.

And finally, the fawking fan. I'm not sure how it supposed to come off without having a running engine. If it gets in my way I'll cut it off.

But there is rust in a lot of places. I hope to get the fenders and doors off at least, they can go over to my race-truck for spares. The box is pretty rotten on the other side. Cab corners are gone. Motor and trans are going to other projects. All my other rangers are getting parts pulled then crushed. I have to be off the property by years end.
And better to be gone before snow...

is this the same property that you spent all the time and effort to set up the 2 post lift on?

How many Rangers are you looking at parting out?

at least you have a few months to move things.

Yes, same property as the lift. And yes, the landlords have given me plenty of notice. Much more than is legally required.
I have the 86, a 91, a 93, and my race truck. I'll put an ad in the classifieds soon. And some other vehicles and trailers.

I have to remember that I'm not keeping the truck, it's going for scrap. Case in point, try to disconnect the fuel lines.... I spent 20 minutes looking for the tool. Spent 20 minutes trying to disconnect. Got one disconnected fairly quick but the other won't let loose. Finally it dawned on me and I used a knife to cut the lines....

So i tried to get the top 2 bolts loosened on the bell-housing. I must have lost a lot of strength over the years because they would not budge, even with another wrench as an extension. I'll see if I have a pipe that will slip over the wrench. If I have to I'll cut the one end off a cheap wrench.

I did find the tool for removing the power steering pump pulley. Even found a spare one still in packaging. That went smoothly.

Sounds like we have the same organizational skills...

When I go junkyarding, I intentionally carry a Sawzall and a bunch of pry bars as well as a BFH to, if nothing else, remind myself that they are parts hulks and I should just cut and smash to save time.

It only hurts to do the first dozen times. 🥲

Unless it's a BMW or GM. Cutting a BMW or GM to pieces somehow makes me feel happy.

Oh, and I found 3 other unopened fuel line disconnect tool packages as I was looking for the pulley tool...
well they do say the quickest way to find something is to start looking for something else...
