I might be retarded but I can't figure out how to remove the ignition switch on my 90 ranger iI have the steering colom broke down and all that but can't figure it out HELP!

i think that there is a small round hole on the bottom side of the ignition switch. in that hole there is a button that needs to be pressed in with something pointy while the key gets turned. the button should go in further as the key gets turned and the whole shabang ought to pull right out. hope im correct, been a few years since i did that.

the key should be in the on position, and the rest is like 88gt said. I just did this on my 91 last week.

I need a new one....my truck can start without a key.
