I'm having trouble trying to visualize how to remove the pumpkin. I just got my set of gears and my locker will arrive on Monday so I want to remove it and start setting it up.

My d35 is mounted on the axle beam but its not mounted on a coil spring. Same with the passenger side. My plan was to remove the passenger size pivot bolt and slide the axle shaft out of the other shaft. But, what about the other side? I know I remove the bolts holding the pumkin in but is the drivers side axle slide into the pumkin? (I looked at a d35 exploded view and it said it has a snap ring)

Thanks!:icon_welder:

remove the brake calipers-spindle nuts-bearings-rotors-spindles- unbolt the driveshaft

pull out the drivers side axleshaft-undo the bolts holding the pig in- remove the pinch bolt (left side of pig, is vertical) - inner portion of passenger axleshaft is retained by an E clip

pull out the pig.

I seriously have to remove all of that crap? (brake calipers-spindle nuts-bearings-rotors-spindles)

Yup what he said. Both axle shafts have to come out.

Oh wow. I've never taken apart hubs before. I guess this would be a good time to do the snap ring upgrade on the u-joints. And of course replace them.

Again, thanks for the help!

That and do the c-clip eliminator mod while you are in there. Will make your life much easier next time you take it all apart.

Oh yeah will do! It shouldn't be too hard.:)

Thanks! Is the spring something that is readily available or will it need to be ordered?

Order from your local mower shop that has Echo products. Took about 2 days to get. $3 at my store.

It was readily available at the store I went to when I did mine, probably depends on the store.

I ordered two for my spare shaft and it took a day to get in. Hell the shipping was more money than the part. $2.50 for the part with $3 shipping lol

Or your local junkyard and find a spring(that pops the hood up after being unlatched) from the hood of any old Chevy car.

^That's thinkin w/ your dipstick, Jimmy!

Good Idea if you're already at the junkyard but it wouldnt pay most ppl to drive to the jy, pull the used part and drive home these days.

Thanks for the link brinker. I am going to have to regear this spring/summer, and I was wondering how the hell I was gonna get that pumpkin out. I may as well do the C-clip Eliminator mod as well, it looks very simple.
