1st how the hell do you get to the bolt for the lower balljoint when the axle is over the top of it?? since the castle bolts are siezed to the balljoints and when i turn them with a socket, the balljoint spins. do i just cut the bolts off??

You have to remove the axle shaft to remove the knuckle. You'll be able to get a socket on the nut then. If you are changing it anyway you might as well cut it off, if you want to save it just split the nut with a nutcracker.

whats the trick to removing the axleshaft?? seems like you have to remove the nuckle to remove the axleshaft. by the way theis i on the driverside..

Axle

It comes out take the disk off and the inner spindle unbolts knock it loose then the axle pulls out though the hole

I can't believe you are working on this without a book. You are going to do this and most likely damage parts--like wheelbearings--worth more than the cost of even a bad book, like a Chiltons. Seriously--I'm phawking stoopid. I can't do anything without a book. But at least I know how stoopid I am, and I always have a book and use it.

Hell-Lincoln Tech! Just looked at your profile. They taught you to dive in without an open reference? Hard to believe.

lol, i got 4 phases left at lincoln tech. yeah, not the best of a school to go to. i ended up getting it out, i used the diagrams we have right here on the site. they helped out great. thats awsome theres a place on here you can go to and get diagrams. im on a few different forums and none of them have stuff like this forum. thanks TRS.

NEXT, rightside u-joint. the u-joint closest to the wheel. whats the easiest way to tackle that. seems like a bitch since the axle can slide out.

you just need room to get to the ball joints apart? take apart the axle shaft at the slip joint. the outer half will slide out, leave the rest in there.
