when i take the old trans out of my 2.8 1985 ranger 2wd do i have to drop the crossmember that connects to the radius arms (or at least thats what lmc calls them)?

well you know your doing something wrong when nobody has the answer to your question so lets try this a different way do i have to pull the engine to get the trans out

You should not have to pull the engine to get the transmission out.

The transmission has a cross member it has to come out. The radius arm bracket should not have to come out.

theres lots of other threads kicking around this section that deal with those transmissions and how to get them out and in.

remove the bolts on the passenger side holding the cab to the frame. then jack it 2 inches.

Dont remove that y pipe unless you reallllly have too. The bolts holding it to the manifold Are Going to snap in the manifold. then you are in for a world of fun!
