I'm replacing the headliner and have unscrewed and removed everything standing in my way. Everything except the oh sh!t handle. The visors, dome light ect were all held on by a couple of screws but it looks like this handle may be riveted to the ceiling. Tell me it aint so. It's a 1992.

On each side of the handle are two little "plugs" you have to remove. Under each plug is a screw (T-15 Torx IIRC). Remove those and Wala! No more Oh Sh!t handle. :icon_thumby:

yeah but...

I saw those. I removed them and where I expected screws there are instead rounded, kind of dome shaped things. Almost like a nut but not. I'm going to try and get the tiniest socket I can in there but they don't look like they have edges really. I'm pretty sure it's factory whatever it is. Thanks.

Maybe they're 7mm bolt heads or something. I know I didn't need any unusual tools to take the one off my '90.

Or i wonder if the last person to mess with the grab handle stripped them out so now they pretty much are rivits. That would suck:annoyed:

If they are rivets all you have to do is drill them out, no big deal. Just be careful not to put the bit all the way through your roof lol.

Thanks

Well shoot dang. You all sure know a lot about a lot. They DO look like 7mm bolt heads or something. And it DOES look like someone was fooling with them and stripped them pretty bad. This would also explain why the molding around the door is cracked on one side and completely gone on the other. Someone was probably trying to do exactly what I am. It's kind of nice to know I'm not the first idiot to own this truck.
Thanks for the responses everyone.
