To many to list
Recently purchased 05 fx4 level 2 with the 4.0. It has a remote start on it.
the only problem is I only got the one key. And of course not the one with the remote or door lock fob on it.
What do I need to get this so it will work for me? I have no idea the brand of the remote that’s installed either.
Thanks for any and all help.

I would think there are some serial #'s somewhere on the module. That should help you discover the brand/make/model. Then it's time to contact the manufacturer or supplier of that brand and see if you can get a fob.

Welcome to the forum

How do you know it has a Remote Start?
You don't have the fob
And don't see the module
Were you just "told" it has remote start

Remote start wasn't a Factory option in 2005, it was a Dealer added option

2005 is a unique year for Rangers, NO PATS in 2005, so any remote start unit could have been added, no key matching needed
This makes it a prerequisite that you find any added remote start module to get the brand

I would start by looking at Ford remote start kits, see what they look like and where they are installed
If not a Ford kit
Then look up 3rd party brands, see what they look like and where they are installed

3rd party kit seen here: https://www.amazon.ca/Complete-Remote-Keyless-2004-2006-Ranger/dp/B076DJG1WK

Without the remote starter's keyfob transmitter you'll have to find its control module, which is typically mounted up behind the driver's dash. Remote starter wiring connections are usually made at the truck's ignition switch harness, so if you see any non-factory appearing wires you can follow them to the control module.

If you find a remote start control module, it should have a manufacturer and model number on it. It should also have an FCC ID number on it (as would the transmitter, too). You can look up an FCC ID number on the FCC's website (at least you used to; I haven't ran a number in a few years) and find out the same info.

Once you know what you've got (if the truck actually has a remote start) then you can see about getting a transmitter for it.

Welcome to TRS.

It was not a factory remote. It was add on. When you say module that’s the square box on the windshield I am assuming?
It also has a sticker under the hood saying it’s has a remote start on it.
I will look for a name or numbers on the little box on the windshield.
I thought I also read on the internet where I can buy the door lock or key fob and there fairly simple to program? I hope this is true also?
Thanks for all your help.
I have never been a member of this great sight. But we have a lot of Rangers🤦‍♂️ And have always came here for trouble shooting our fleet lol

Sorry I did not read about the location of the module. I see where to look now.
Hopefully this by this weekend

Good luck. Post up what you find and maybe we can help you pin it down.

Adding new Fobs is fairly straight forward
Close doors and lock them
Cycle key on and off 8 times quickly, leaving it in ON position the last time
Door locks should cycle one time, unlock/lock, this confirms you are in programming mode
AND THIS ERASES ALL PAST FOBS<<<<<<
This is a safety feature, if a fob is lost or stolen(by an ex, lol) you can disable that fob without having it

So have ALL your current fobs with you
Press either the lock or unlock button on one fob, door locks should cycle 1 time, confirms it "learned" that fobs ID
Then do the next fob, and the next
Turn key off to exit programming mode
Test that all fobs work

For 3rd party remote start you will need to get their install manual, to see what is required to "learn" the remote start sequence

Well got under the dash and here what I come up with. And I also have no current fob either. So I guess I would need to order one somewhere?
Also these numbers.

Good work!

Owner's Manual here:

Installation Manual here:

CodeAlarm was one of the early car alarm manufacturers, and made good products. Audiovox bought them out some time ago but kept the branding intact.

The CA-2051 model may have changed over its years of production. You may want to confirm exactly which version you have, by comparing your wiring against manuals found online. You'll also want to confirm if the system in your truck is complete before spending the money on a remote (i.e.- all needed wires connected, status LED, valet and safety switches present). The manuals have the instructions to program the remote.
